New prodigy at Half Moon Bay

“Chris is without a doubt one of the keenest young golfers I have ever met,” Half Moon Bay MyGolf co-ordinator Graham Bolton said.

Graham refers to ten-year-old MyGolfer Christopher Fry, who was introduced to golf at an all-abilities clinic at Half Moon Bay, North Queensland, just over a year ago and has now been crowned with February’s MyGolfer of the month award for 2018.

“No matter the activity he puts his head down every week and gives it his all,” Graham said.

Despite mild Cerebral Palsy Chris’s enthusiasm toward taking up the challenge of golf has been nothing short of incredible.

Half Moon Bay’s all-abilities program has been a huge success to date, with a range of beginner and advanced players becoming involved in the program.

“During the past year Chris has worked hard at improving his game across many different areas,” Graham said.

“He now has a killer drive from the tee with soft hands around the green to boot!”

When asked of his favourite golfer, Chris mentions his grandfather.

“He helps me learn how to play every week and takes me to the driving range to practice,” Chris said.

This support is certainly having a positive effect on Chris’s prowess.

“Everyone who watched can see that Chris has a bright future in golf, he has already built up a love for the game that will only grow as time goes on,” Graham said.

“At Half Moon Bay we are very proud of Chris and his dedication to joining in all the activities with the other kids and can’t wait to see what he can do in 2018.”

Congratulations on your achievement Chris, keep up the great work!
