On Tuesday 21 March, the Pacific and Rowes Bay golf clubs were announced as the worthy winners of the Queensland Golf Industry Junior Program of the Year for 2016.

Both MyGolf registered centres with active participants taking part in the national junior program, these clubs have not only delivered the program but also created pathways for juniors of all playing abilities within their clubs.

This award highlighted the significant work both clubs have put in to developing their juniors and was a first that two clubs shared this honour since the award’s inception in 2014.

Throughout 2016, the Rowes Bay Golf Club junior program has encouraged the participation and progression of children through golf.

The program helps the progression of juniors from Pee Wees, to Hot Shots, to Legends, to become full playing junior members and offering them the opportunity to compete in 18-hole member competitions.

Led by PGA Professional, David Lord, and community golf instructor Matthew McCarthy, the Rowes Bay Golf Club's MyGolf program is producing the next generation of golfers in North Queensland.

The PacificGolf Club is a registered MyGolf centre which offers programs for juniors up to six days a week.

The commitment to the juniors at this club has not gone unrecognised and as a result, PGA Professionals John Hempstock and Mark Victorsen have grown its number of registrations have increased by 30 per cent in the past 12 months.

The Pacific Golf Club's junior program has seven levels of junior development, from beginners to elite, with clinics and competitions six days per week.

Both clubs should be commended for their commitment and effort in providing opportunities for children to be active in golf.
